they're coming.

after a few weeks of vacation, it is back to the computer.

we're juuuust beginning to start working with digital photography in school which means learning how to edit and use various programs. these are the weeks i have been waiting for since i won't be using much film. film is excellent for learning lighting, forcing yourself to compose properly, and a variety of other things, but digital allows for much easier storing and preserving of files, endless manipulation, and color.

on the list of things to do includes:
- going through vacation photos
- photographing a group of 11 and doing headshots for each individual member
- editing senior photos for my cousins

for now, here are three photos of my cousins that i practiced editing on a bit:

week seven.

composition review. basically a lesson in whether or not we're learning how to compose a proper photograph. i did not get to print very many, but i am posting a tree shadow one and another print that i may put in my portfolio (the weed one).

for our final portfolio, we are required to have 8 prints done in the darkroom. so far, i have four printed and about 10 more to print before i decide which to use and whether or not i need to shoot more bw film.

week six (2).

two more prints from the magazine cover shoot. i didn't convert these to a magazine cover, but i figured i would put them up anyway:

i still think this has been one of my favorite shoots so far.

week five (2).

some of the prints from old time america:

the horse photo was taken in a small town where i was questioned by a toothless man about why i was in his town and what was i doing and was that my car (four blocks away).

small towns are interesting.

week six

week six was the magazine cover shoot. we researched 10 different magazines that we would like to shoot for and then were told to pick a few and shoot for their covers.

i shot for Real Simple, Architectural Record, and Norman Living:

(this was my favorite shoot)

week five

old time america. scanned prints coming soon.

week four

week four brought toning into play. we were told to take photos of things that were old, rusty, natural, etc. after making 15 + prints, we dyed them like easter eggs. these are untoned prints:

(i haven't scanned the toned prints yet, but when i do, i will edit this post.)

week three

week three was the storyboard. we were to come up with a theme and shoot specifically for its purposes.

with the help of my friends calder and daren, we did a geek story. here are a few of the prints i scanned:

a very, very fun shoot to do.
